PROJECT FACT SHEET

This project consists of the following:

The design and construction of a new research facility that contains approximately 46,500 sq. ft. for research labs 30,000 sq. ft., classrooms 1,025 Campus Support 2,694 sq. ft., and 12,784 sq. ft. for offices. 

The Energy Materials Building will be located on the University of Central Florida, main campus adjacent to the existing CREOL Building and Health and Public Affairs II.  The total project cost is anticipated to be $30,000,000 contingent upon the availability of funding.

This facility will be the in the planning phase in the year 2010-2011.

The selected architectural firm will provide design, construction documents, and construction administration for the referenced project.

The selected Construction Management firm will provide preconstruction services, which include the development of a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) at the completion of the 50% Construction Document phase, become the single point of responsibility for performance of the construction contract and shall publicly bid trade contracts.

 

SELECTION CRITERIA              

Energy Materials Building   UCF# 547

Firms will be evaluated in the following areas: past performance and experience and ability.  Experience and ability scores will be based on the following criteria:

  1. Experience in architectural design and/or construction management services of this building type and complexity. The new "state-of -the-art" Energy Materials Building will include high end laboratories. Cite examples of specific works and include the facility’s response to technological adaptation, functional relationships and maintenance criteria.
  2. Experience in design and construction of Leed certified laboratory buildings to the gold level.   Cite examples of specific work.
  3. Experience with architectural/construction management process.  Show ability to work with the construction management (CM) process during design and construction.  Indicate past experience with CM, particularly associated with high end laboratories.  Cite examples of specific works. 


GENERAL INFORMATION

  1. All applicants will be notified of the results of the shortlisting in writing.  Finalists will be informed of the interview date and time and will be provided with additional project information, if available.
  2. The Selection Committee will make a recommendation to the President of the University.  All finalists will be notified, in writing, of the President's action.  Upon approval by the President, negotiations will be conducted in accordance with Section 287.055, Florida Statutes.
  3. Professional liability insurance in the amount of $2,500,000 is required for this project.
  4. Selection Committee Team Members have yet to be determined.
